Our Story
We knew that we liked to go out and eat at places where we felt like the employees knew us and appreciated our business. We enjoy a fun, clean, and casual environment that is service oriented and priced reasonably. A place where family and friends could gather and enjoy themselves without feeling rushed. After crunching the numbers, my wife is an accountant, we decided to go for it! Grumps was born in December of 2002. (My grandfather was called Gramps, Grumps is close enough for me to honor his memory.) We will operate our business with the following goals in mind: provide first-class customer service, sell quality product and charge reasonable prices, and enjoy what we do! We are learning as we go so, if there’s ever anything you feel would make us better able to achieve these goals, then please let me know. I have never really seen myself working in a “corporate
environment”, although that’s where I spent my previous 8+ years. One
day (in 2001) I pitched to my wife that perhaps I should go into
business for myself. After the initial laughter stopped, she asked what
I would really like to be doing. (One thing was for sure, I didn’t want
to ever have to wear a coat and tie again. Jeans and boots are my
preference.) I suggested bass fisherman and golf pro. I’m a 22 handicap
golfer and miss more fish than I catch. Needless to say, more thought
was needed.
